PAPER PLAYERS--Humor

This was an easy card to make with the Sizzix die set.  However, it was tough getting it through the machine having two layers plus the die to cut.  I was a little nervous that it might break the machine, so I don't think I'll use this set again.  Thankfully, it was borrowed; and I'm glad I got to try it.

The die set includes one for the sprinkles, but I chose to use the stick-on dots from my stash--much easier thank cutting, coloring and gluing paper ones. 

This cupcake/food group stamp is just one of many humorous ones in my stash.  I love to make cards that will make someone laugh.

A PRE-SUMMER'S CAT NAP

This stamp by Impression Obsession reminded me of our tuxedo cat who loves to snooze in "her" chair on the front deck.  Today was the first day warm enough to sit a spell after a long, bleak winter!

I'm looking forward to doing the same thing in another few weeks...

THREE OF A KIND--Oval Frame

 It's been awhile since I've done three of a kind for the blog, so I thought I'd have a go at it with the SU  frame ef.



This first one is stamped with Distress inks and sprayed with water for the watercolor effect.  The leaf is a stamp and matching die from Impression Obsession; and the flowers are from a SU hostess set, "Morning Meadow".  I used the coordinating punch for the flowers.  The tiny pearls go along with the raised dots around the frame.



The second card uses the poppy stamp from another SU hostess set, "Simply Sketched" and is the first time I've used it.  The greeting and flower are stamped in Versafine Smokey Gray ink to match the gray cs.  I kept this one very simple, adding just some tiny black gems and a black embroidery floss bow.

The last card uses a daisy die cut which I water colored and added Stickles to.  The greeting is stamped in Versafine Olympia Green ink.  I added a green strip and just a few embellishments to finish it off.

A LITTLE BOLDER

Now that I'm getting used to this color combo, I'm finding more ways to use it.  Using two shades of purple and a darker turquoise on the kraft card base works very nicely I think.

The jute matches the card base, and the white flower centers match the white embossing for the greeting.  This was a very simple card to assemble, thanks to the die cuts!

Happy Shaker Card

One of the nice things about signing up for Summer Card Camp is that you can go back to catch up if you miss a class or two.  During Week 1, I didn't miss a day; but last week I had a hard time keeping up because of the oppressive heat wave.  So here's the shaker card I would have done for Week 2, Day 3.

Using an oval shaker from Impression Obsession really makes it easy.  All I did was add some beads and sequins for the shaker, with a scrap piece of dsp for the background.  The rest is pretty straightforward.

TIP:  Before adding the shaker contents, use an embossing buddy or brush to eliminate static.

Summer Birthday Card

The weather is supposed to be in the 90's all this week, so I guess I'll be stamping more than usual!

This card doesn't photograph well and is a little more vibrant than it looks here.  The butterfly has Swiss Dot vellum underneath the black wings.  The leaves were stamped in Versamark and chalked with 3 shades of green.  I used the matching embroidery floss on the side and Mowed Lawn Distress Ink for the greeting.

The butterfly body has a line of black gems which give it a little bit of sparkle.

LOVE BIRDS

I finally got around to trying this new die from Impression Obsession that I picked up at the Allentown Stamp Show.  It seems I never have an Anniversary card handy when I need one, so now I do!

First, I ran the die through on green dsp for the branch, and again for the birds and hearts.  Next, I ran a piece of scrap Confetti cs for the tree trunk and ripped the one side to make it look rough.  After attaching the branch with TomBow mono glue, I perched the birds on the branch with dimensionals.  The hearts were added with mono glue.

For the sentiment, I used an old wooden Hero Arts stamp and Adirondack "Denim" dye ink.  Not wanting to take chances on the greeting coming out crooked, I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig.  Last, I rounded the bottom right corner.

Except for the white card base, this card was made using all scraps!

CARD WITH TAG

This top fold card design gave me a chance to use even more scraps from my Scrap Drawer!

After choosing 4 patterns that would go well together, I cut them in strips of varying width and layered them with ds tape.  The light tan piece had already been embossed, which added some texture to the card as well.

Next, I stamped the leaf, cut it by hand and mounted it over the dsp strips with ds tape.  For the tag, I stamped the sentiment first on a white scrap, cut around it in a rectangle and rounded the top corners to coordinate with the rounded corners of the card base.  When I cut the notch at the bottom, I curved the lines slightly; then I sponged the edges with green ink.  The bow is a piece of jute attached with a glue dot to the top of the tag, and the tag was mounted with dimensionals.

Last, I added three SU Candy Dots.

FIRST CHRISTMAS CARD FOR 2013

I saw this stamp at the Impression Obsession booth in April and thought it would make a nice simple Christmas card. 
The church is done with colored pencils, and the sky is  sponged with blue ink.  The image is mounted on a piece of blue cs and popped up on the white card base with SU dimensionals.  For the finishing touch, I used a Spica pen for the spire cross and some Stickles for the snow.

Although I like the way it turned out, I think it's sad that this church looks so deserted.  Wouldn't it look more alive if the steps had been cleared of snow?  Maybe everyone comes in the back door...like the country church down the hill from here...

I do hope lots of people come to adore Him, not only at Christmas, but at every opportunity!

ANNIVERSARY CARD

Sorry this is out of focus, but you get the idea (I hope!)  This is the card I made for my husband on our 46th anniversary yesterday.  I picked up this die set at the stamp show last month, and I love how it came out IRL.

First I used the die on dark green cs for the stem and the leaf die on a lighter green.  Next I cut the piece that is actually the base hidden beneath the individual blossoms.  The die for the blossoms cuts 4 large and 4 small blossoms at a time, both of which were used here.  I used three shades of purple and a mixture of both sizes.

To glue the blossoms onto the base, I used Tom Bow Mono glue.  Using tweezers, I dipped the bottom center of each blossom into a little dollop of glue on a piece of plastic, bent the petals forward, and put each in place.  Once I was happy with the coverage of blossoms on the base, I added white Liquid Pearls in the center of those on top and let everything dry.
Although this sounds tedious, it was really quite simple to do.

For the LOVE letters (no pun intended) I used alphabet dies.
